On-Site Programs
The Mosaic Templars Cultural Center offers a dynamic selection of on-site programs for grades pre-K through 12. All programs are tied to the Arkansas Department of Education Curriculum Frameworks.
GENERAL BUILDING TOUR
The General Building Tour is a tour of the 1st and 3rd floors of the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center. Students will get a brief overview of all the museum's exhibits and receive an appreciation for the achievements of black Arkansans in business, politics and the arts.

MOSAIC TEMPLARS OF AMERICA
This tour and program introduces students to the Mosaic Templars of America, a black fraternal organization and insurance company, founded in Little Rock in 1883. Students will learn the important of businesses like the Mosaic Templars of America during the Jim Crow era of American history. Students will create their own business and/or club badges.

"ENTREPRECATION"
This tour gives students an understanding of the entrepreneurial spirit of Arkansas's African American community in the early 20th century. Students will learn about black business districts throughout the state and the once-thriving West Ninth Street District in Little Rock.

FREEDOM SUMMER
This tour and program introduces students to civil rights activism and how one individual, no matter how big or small, can make a change in his or her community. The tour focuses on images and objects related to the desegregation of public service in Arkansas. The program uses the picture book, Freedom Summer, to highlight how friendship can transcend color. The program concludes with an art project - friendship bracelets.

SPEAKING UP, SPEAKING OUT
This tour and program introduces civil rights activism through the use of buttons. The tour will include discussion on images and object of segregation and how individuals used buttons and signs as a form of protest. The program allows students to use their artistic ability to design and create their own wearable buttons to speak up and speak out.

LIFE MASKS
Nationally recognized artist Isaac Scott Hathaway created life and death masks of notable black Americans as a way of remembering their contributions. This tour and program introduces students to the life and art of Hathaway and his contributions to history. After examining some of Hathaway's masks in the exhibit, students will create their own cardboard "life masks."

GEE, WHAT'S GE?
This tour and program introduces students to artist Isaac Scott Hathaway and his use of plaster in sculpture. Students will learn about Hathaway's life and art and then participate in a program using plaster.

ZIN! PLUCK! BANG!
This tour and program focuses on the musical talents of Arkansas-reared, nationally-acclaimed, classical composer William Grant Still. Students will see, hear, and touch different musical instruments and learn about a symphonic orchestra and get a chance to be musicians!

Dunbar, Your Guiding HandThis tour and program teaches students about segregated education in Arkansas through a look at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Little Rock. Between 1929 and 1955, Dunbar was the premier high school for blacks in Arkansas. After a tour of the Dunbar exhibit, students will have a chance to create school visors to represent their school spirit.
