Hateful Things

Hateful Things

The "Hateful Things” exhibit contained a collection of objects and images trace the stereotyping of African Americans from the late 19th century to the present. Some items included derogatory caricatures, signs from the segregation era and images commending violence against African Americans.

Through this exhibit, MTCC helped people understand how hateful ideas and objects have created a culture of fear and hatred that has led to tragedies like the Elaine Massacre.

“Hateful Things” is a traveling exhibit from the Jim Crow Museum of Racist Memorabilia at Ferris State University.
