MTCC to host photography classes with Nina Robinson

Mosaic Templars Cultural Center will host a kids’ photography camp and an intergenerational photography class this summer with photographer Nina Robinson.

Section 1: Ages 13-18 (up to 10 registrants)

Section 2: Ages 55 and up (up to 10 registrants)

Dates/Times: July 25-29: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Deadline to register is July 11. Registration is first come, first served until filled or the registration deadline.

Materials Fee: $30

Combining writing and photography, documentary photographer Nina Robinson will walk you through the basics of composing a good photograph to pair with memoir topics. All participants will be given topics to write about and photograph. The workshop is designed to bridge the gap between younger and older generations by working together in exploring life themes from different generational perspectives and experiences. At the end of the week all participants will have produced a visual journal, a new form of expression, and have better understanding of each other.

Photography Kids Camp with Nina Robinson

Dates/Times: August 1-5; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Materials Fee: $40

Documentary photography, memory collections, family history… what makes a family album? Kids will be asked to document individual and shared memories/events. Exploring their own family/community while creating a tangible visual memory collection. Documentary photographer Nina Robinson will walk the kids through the basics of composing a good photograph and share examples of different types of photo albums. The class is about understanding how photography albums are an expression of identity, are unique and individual, and how they can inform and affect the viewer.

Nina Robinson is a documentary influenced portrait photographer. Her work is a mixture of all of her past experiences, bridging documentary, personal and fine art. She has been published in The New York Times, American Photo magazine, Lens Culture, The Wall Street Journal and has exhibited at the Bronx Documentary Center. Robinson is based in the South Bronx and Arkansas.
